1. Overview
This Privacy Policy sets out Long-Steps Ballroom Dancing’s (ABN: 69 140 147 382) (hereafter referred to as LSBD) commitment to protecting the privacy and integrity of personal information collected.
This policy has been written to comply with the Australian Privacy Act of 1988, including the Australian Privacy Principles set out in Schedule 1 of the act.
A customer providing us with personal information indicates that they have had sufficient opportunity to access this Privacy Policy and that they have read and accepted it.
If a customer does not wish to provide personal information to us, then that customer does not have to do so, but it may affect that customer’s use of and/or access to our services.

2. Types of Personal Information Collected
The type of personal information collected by LSBD may include, but is not limited to:
Full name
Dance partner’s full name
Sex
Gender identity
Date of birth
Postal address
Email address
Phone number
Direct debit personal information
Credit card personal information
Relevant medical personal information
Video footage and/or photographs
If LSBD receives personal information from third parties, LSBD will protect it as set out in this Privacy Policy.
In accordance with “Australian Privacy Principle 4 – dealing with unsolicited personal information”, where LSBD receives personal information from third parties, and that personal information could not have reasonably been solicited through our normal course of business, that personal information will be destroyed.
3. Use of Personal Information
LSBD collects and uses personal information for purposes including, but not limited to:
contacting and communicating with customers;
administering correct advice with regard to LSBD services;
maintaining accurate internal records; and
deploying appropriate marketing and promotion.
All marketing and promotion is performed in accordance with “Australian Privacy Principle 7 – direct marketing”.
4. Disclosure of Personal Information
Unless compelled to under Australian Law, and in accordance with “Australian Privacy Principle 6 – use or disclosure of personal information”, LSBD will not disclose personal information.
LSBD may disclose personal information only with the consent of the person whose details are being disclosed.
5. Access & Correction of Personal Information
In accordance with “Australian Privacy Principle 12 – access to personal information”, customers may request access to part or all of the personal information LSBD holds pertaining to that customer and that customer alone.
In accordance with “Australian Privacy Principle 13 – correction of personal information”, LSBD will take all reasonable steps to ensure personal information is maintained and deemed to be accurate, up-to-date, complete, relevant and not misleading. If a customer believes that any personal information LSBD holds pertaining to that customer and that customer alone is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading, that customer may contact us.
LSBD will endeavour to promptly correct any personal information found to be inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.
6. Capacity to Consent
Minors
For the purpose of this policy the term “Minor” shall pertain to persons under the age of 16.
LSBD may disclose personal information of minors only with the consent of a duly nominated parent or guardian.
Only the duly nominated parent or guardian of a minor may request access to part or all of the personal information LSBD holds pertaining to that minor and that minor alone.
Diminished Capacity
For an LSBD customer to be deemed to have diminished capacity, that customer, or a duly nominated parent, guardian or case worker, must make that assessment known to LSBD.
LSBD may disclose personal information of customers with diminished capacity only with the consent of a duly nominated parent, guardian, or case worker.
Only the duly nominated parent, guardian or case worker of a customer with diminished capacity may request access to part or all of the personal information LSBD holds pertaining to that customer and that customer alone.
7. Collection, Storage & Security
Where personal information is collected online it is encrypted using SSL certificates.
In accordance with “Australian Principle 11 – security of personal information”, all personal information stored, digitally or otherwise, is protected from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure as far as reasonably practicable.
8. Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards
Where personal Credit Card information is collected, or destroyed, by LSBD, it is done so using PCI DSS compliant methods. Where personal Credit Card information is stored by LSBD, it is done so using PCI DSS compliant third parties.
9. Australian Payments Network
LSBD is an approved direct entry user. Where personal Direct Debit information is collected, stored, and destroyed, it is done so under the direct entry rules laid out by the Australian Payments Network and our chosen financial institution.
10. Complaints About Breach
If customers believe that LSBD have breached the Australian Privacy Principles and wish to make a complaint about that breach, please contact us.

12. Discretion
LSBD reserves the right to alter or waive any of the terms of this policy at its discretion on a case-by-case basis.
